Badger Sintered Diamond Drill Bit

Like a Badger, "the teeth are up front and they dig", with a 1/8" shank. Long Life.
Drilling Instructions
  • Keep bits cool and wet during the drilling process. A water bath that keeps the rock submerged during drilling works best. A submersible vise that securely holds the specimen to be drilled works well.
  • Make a beginning hole by drilling SLOWLY and GENTLY allowing the bit to seat.
  • Choke up the tip of the bit very close to the chuck when, starting out, so the shaft is held rigid. This is especially important with 1 mm & 1.5 mm bits.
  • Once the hole is started raise the bit to clear the stone. Bring it back down slowly making sure the bit drops STRAIGHT into the existing hole.
  • Apply only enough downward pressure to see a scant cloud of dust float out of the hole. Drill for a few seconds, raise the bit up and back down for a few more seconds. Repeat the process through the stone.
  • Check constantly that the bit is absolutely centered on the hole to avoid stress to the shaft material.
  • Be patient, as just a few seconds of excess pressure will cause unwanted diamond loss from the bit.
  • Avoid blowing a crater on the breakout side by going very slowly as you finish.
